Originally known as El Toro,
Lake Forest is a city with many trees and parks
and a beautiful lake. The Lake Forest real estate
community was chosen as the name for the area in
1991. It
began, as did most of Orange County, as
agricultural land.
The Lake Forest real estate
market has expanded by including areas such as
Foothill Ranch and Portola Hills.
El Toro was a stagecoach stop between San Diego and Los
Angeles in the 1800s.
After WW II, the El Toro Marine Base led to
residential and commercial growth and had a big impact
on the Lake Forest real estate market.
Of course now, the Marine base is closed. Today, the Lake Forest real estate market includes over
57,000 residents. To preserve its past, Lake Forest
established Heritage Hill, an historical park that is
home to Serrano Adobe built in the late 1880s. .
